Scam Warnings

Published by admin on July 7th, 2011 - in Scam Warnings

Work from Home business related scams are steadily on the increase; this is because there is a large rise in the number of people wanting to make a living working from home.
Scams come in various different forms and can be hard to spot but they normally all have things in common with each other that you need to look out for. These are.

1. They don’t show you any contact information. These are normally the worst ones as they don’t want you or the authorities to know where to find them. The chances are once you have handed your money over; you will either get a very sub standard product or no product at all. Reputable companies will show their contact details, even the single page sales letters that you see on the internet by “Mr. Joe Blogs” trying to sell you something should still have their registered address at the bottom of the page if they are worth having a look at.

2. Pressure selling tactics. If you have found what looks like a big reputable company that is offering to set things up for you and give you mentoring then beware. Sometimes with big companies, you are just a pound or dollar sign to them and they will say anything to get you on board. Here at work from home business we have spoken to people that have been on the receiving end of this. One male in particular signed up with an American company on their website, 15 minutes later they were phoning him asking him to pay out $2000 for training and setting up his business for him. When he declined, they got very aggressive and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Here are a few things they were saying… “it doesn’t bother me if you don’t sign up, I make over five thousand dollars a month…you will never earn that much.” “I don’t care if you don’t do this; I’m going to be fine either way.” “Why are you being so scared, you’re never going to amount to anything…” Never be afraid to say no to these people.

3. Get rich and earn 10 grand a month by next month, with no work on your part. These claims cannot be true. Anything that is worth trying will take lots of effort on your part, especially when you are just starting out. Remember if it sounds too good to be true, then it normally is.
Don’t be put off or scared of looking for ways to make money on the internet because there are lots of good, genuine ways to make money out there. Here are a few tips on how to look safely and avoid being ripped off.
Always do your homework on any work from home business ideas. Make sure you are fully convinced that it is worth having a look at and assess the risks. If they are asking for a certain amount of money, ask yourself if you can afford it first. Will you still be able to carry on with your life as normal if the home business idea doesn’t go very well?

You can search the internet; the chances are that if it’s a scam then somebody else has already fallen for it. There could be advice already online about it which could save you a lot of money and heartache.

Mental Preperation

Published by admin on July 7th, 2011 - in Mental Preperation

If you are choosing to work at home, it will be important to have a realistic picture of what it will really be like. You may be attracted to the idea because you can work without a boss overlooking what you’re doing, no annoying co-workers and being able to make your own schedule, but there is more to having a home based business than that. Before jumping into working from home, you will need to do some mental preparation. You will need to mentally prepare to be self-motivated, schedule time to work, and resist the temptation to be distracted.

MENTAL PREPARATION TO BE SELF-MOTIVATED

When you are thinking about working at home, you will need to mentally prepare to work without someone telling you what to do and when to do it. You will need to stay on schedule and complete tasks on your own. You will need to make working important. You cannot wait for someone else to pick up the slack if an employee from your home based business isn’t able to work. If the tasks aren’t done, there may be no one else to delegate to when you want to “punch out”. If you choose to participate in an activity, you may find yourself up late completing work that you put off.

MAKING A SCHEDULE WHEN YOU HAVE A HOME BASED BUSINESS

When you work for someone else, they are usually in charge of your schedule. When you have a home based business you will need to make your own schedule. Mental preparation to do this will include letting people know that you are working specific hours and that you are not available. When you work from home, you will need to be mentally prepared to say “no” to people who think that because you have a home based business you are available anytime that they need you.

MENTALLY PREPARE TO AVOID DISTRACTIONS
When you are working from home you will need to be mentally prepared to resist being distracted. The distractions can come from feeling like you need to do dishes or laundry around the house or from children who suddenly feel like they cannot live without you in the same room for 5 minutes. Mental preparation ahead of time will make it easier to let household chores go (you wouldn’t do them during working hours if you worked outside the home) and to teach children, and even spouses, that when you are working at your home based business you are not available.

Having a realistic understanding of the mental preparation needed for a home based business will increase your chance of success.

How To Get Your Own Website

Published by admin on July 7th, 2011 - in Get Yourself A Website

When starting a home based business there are several things that must be done in order for the business to thrive. The first thing should be, building a website.

A website is the best way to begin building an image online where customers can learn about the business, interact with the business owner, and begin building a relationship. The home based business owner can start building their online image for little or no money by utilizing one of the thousands of free website services on the internet.

There is no need to go out and spend hundreds of pounds building the perfect website when it can be done for virtually nothing and deliver similar, if not, the same results as a paid site, in a short amount of time.
Unlimited resources are available on the Internet to assist small business owners with creating free websites using web templates and step-by-step instructions.

Before selecting a free website service there must be a plan. Write a checklist of things that must be included on the website in order for customers to get the greatest benefit.

After the checklist is complete, google “building free websites online” and select the top four or five search results.

With the checklist in hand review the free websites and make sure that everything on the checklist is included in the free service. Most free online websites have the basics available at no cost:

• Site building tools that make it easier to build the website in minutes
• Bandwidth, for the home based business owner anything more than 100 mb is a plus starting out
• Web storage
• Professional web templates and themes
• Site support

Some additional must haves include: blogging capabilities, multimedia features, the ability for customers to subscribe to the site and comment on blogs via their social networks, and additional site building tools for the business owner.

Though many of these are sometimes included with the free service, several sites offer these additions for nominal fees, usually on a subscription basis.

After the site has been selected and an account has been created follow the step-by-step instructions located on the site’s page to begin.

In some instances and depending on how well the free website meets the needs of the business, the site can be built and running in a couple of hours and in some cases within minutes; it depends entirely on the amount of specialized information needed in order for the site to meet the business’s needs.

Lastly, select a web hosting service. Like free websites, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of free web hosting sites that offer web hosting for no cost with basic features; enough to get the site off the ground.

Free website services often offer free web hosting on their servers with several restrictions. One of those restrictions are that the home based business may not be able to use a dedicated domain name, but a name created and hosted on the free site’s server.

How To Get People To Your Website

Working from home and creating a website is great, but it will not do you any good if you do not get traffic. So how do you get traffic to you site? First let’s discuss what traffic really is. Traffic is the amount of people that come to view your website. Now this traffic is great if there is a lot of it, but one thing that you really want is target traffic. That is traffic that means to come to your website and want to see what it is that you have to offer. This is really what all website owners are looking for when they discuss traffic.

So how do you get targeted traffic to your websites? The answers are many and more than can be discussed in just one little article. There are whole books dedicated to the subject, but we can go through a few of the general ways to get targeted traffic and how best to go about it.

First and foremost you want to set up your site for Search Engine Optimization. This is what SEO stands for and you will see it a lot when you start to look for how to set up your website. The very basics of this process are finding out the keywords for your niche or website. Let’s just say for the purposes of this article that you have a website on barbequing. So some of those keywords would be barbeque, BBQ, and BBQ recipes, these keywords are important to getting people to find you. So you would want to use these words a lot in your writing, your descriptions, and in your Meta information. All of these things will make it easier for the search engines to find your site. And when the search engines know where you are, they can direct people to your site when they look up those keywords.

Another very useful tool in getting targeted traffic is social media. Social media site can be a gold mine of targeted traffic for you. With such sites as Twitter and Facebook, anyone can get their messages out quickly to hundreds, even thousands of people. Again you really want to target your traffic. Ask any social media expert and they will tell you that these tools can make it possible for anyone to reach their target audience.

Traffic can be a mystery to those first starting out in a home based business, but it does not have to be that hard. Take the time to really look over SEO and social media and this can get you off to a great start for organic targeted traffic.

What Is SEO All About?

Published by admin on July 7th, 2011 - in What Is SEO All About?

Discovering SEO, or search engine optimization is a skill that every home business entrepreneur has to explore if they really want to build a website that is extremely efficient for their specific needs. The method of SEO is optimizing your website so that it ranks higher in the search engines. This in turn will generate more traffic that will flow to the website directly from a search engine. To do this, changes will have to be made on the inside and outside of your website. These methods can be put into action from the beginning or when the site is up and running. Once done correctly the volume of visitors coming to the website will greatly increase.
SEO is a technique used to enable your website to show the search engine that your website is going to benefit the person who is writing in the search. These search engines then calculate how efficient the website is at producing quality information. If these certain methods were not in place, then the searcher would be viewing websites with information that would not be relevant to them. This reduces the likelihood of him or her finding the material they want. If the searcher is not happy with the results he or she gets then they will go to another search engine to look for better results. Basically, by using search engine optimization, you can build a website that is efficient at meeting the searcher’s needs which in turn gets the search engines to send more direct traffic/visitors to your website.
Nearly all traffic or visitors that come through search engines will be from Google, Yahoo!, MSN and AskJeeves. There are many others, but these main four are a must if you want a large amount of traffic to your site. All of these search engines have different components it looks for in websites to ascertain how beneficial they are to the person searching for recourses, content or information. Your role, as the websites developer or owner, is to make sure that your website will prove to these search engines that the site is relevant. If done correctly, your business will succeed online and it will multiply the number of people coming to the site.
SEO methods are tailored to harmonize a balance of good content with quality keywords and design and are not an abuse of search engine guidelines. By teaching yourself SEO, you will be armed with the knowledge to allow your website to excel on the internet. Without it, you will find it difficult getting those much desired visitors you want to your site.
If you are unable or find it difficult to work on your own search engine ranking, you can hire someone to work for you or with you. Be careful when using this approach as it can be quite expensive.
