take your home business on holidayMore and more people are looking to work from home opportunities to supplement their current income or to even replace income lost due the recent economic downturn. If you have always wanted to have your own business or you are looking for more financial security in addition to your current job, or, are a housewife looking for a way to make extra money that still leaves quality time for your children, a home business is probably on your radar.

You have seen the ads all over the internet and possibly on signs in your community touting fabulous work from home opportunities where you can make buckets of money with your very own home business. One of the main sources of these ads is Herbalife. The ads make big promises but does the company deliver? Is Herbalife a viable home business for you?

Here are some pros and cons to consider when deciding if a Herbalife distributorship is the right decision for you.

Pros:

1. Herbalife specializes in weight loss and nutrition products. Weight loss and nutrition products are largely recession proof. The weight loss industry is a multi billion pound industry and you will always find people who are willing to pay for products they believe will help them look and feel better. You will always have a viable and eager market to sell to.

2. Herbalife is a well known product that has been heavily branded as natural and safe. This means you will not have to heavily educate most people about the basics of this product. Having an already well branded product is a very valuable asset that does a lot of the work for you in sales.

3. Herbalife is an established, now global, company that has been around since the late 1980′s. The longevity and permanance of a company is an important consideration when you are deciding to build your business based on their product.

4. Herbalife offers extensive marketing and sales tools to help you promote your business.

Cons:

1 Early on, Herbalife had some negative publicity due to health complications caused by an stimulant called ephedra. Ephedra has now been banned in the United States and is no longer in use by Herbalife but Herbalife was one of the products that got lots of publicity for using this stimulant in their product.

2. Herbalife requires anywhere from £40 & up to start a distributorship, and you are responsible for maintaining your own stock of product. There may also be other costs for various regional training sessions. All of this will increase the level of your investment with no guarantee of a payoff.

3. Herbalife involves mulit level marketing which means that to be successful you will need to build a downline with people selling under you. This means more responsibility as you manage the challenges of those who work under you. However, some will see it as a positive as this gives you an opportunity to make passive income off the sales efforts of others.
